We helped to supervise the children and helped out Eclectic who had provided Cookie Decorating, Frame Designs and Build a Bear for the event.

Stoney Creek wedding at the Grand Olympia- November 12th, 2011

Congratulation to the happy couple!

This was an all day event with the bride and groom twin 2.5 year old and the brides sisters little 4 year old.

We shadowed the bridal party all day, helping and entertaining the children at the homes, church and venue. They played hard at the Grand Olympia in a separate room provided and then fell asleep and then we continued care back at the house until someone came to take over at the end of the night.

The biggest kid friendly wedding we have ever done so far!

This bride totally loves kids and it showed at her reception. We were asked to help supervise in the "children's area" in the dining area. The children had activities and left with a goodies provided by the bridal couple.

As the dancing started the children joined in and we cracked glow sticks and handed them out to the guests and the dance floor was lite up with a rainbow of colours!

Wedding Bliss Sale and Show on March 6th, 2011

We cared and entertain the little guests at the show so mommies could browse the vendors and check out the show.

We chatted with one vendor/mom who asked for some advice on getting her little one to sleep at night. We were happy to help. Her is an e-mail she sent us.

It was so nice to meet you last week...thank you for all the advice on getting Sam to sleep. It has gotten a bit better.

I do still love the cuddles....but I resist...I promise!!!

Hotel and Home Wedding Childcare. September 16th,2011

Niromi contacted me to see if I could help a couple of her guests with childcare for her wedding.

Hotel Care

One couple contacted us who were coming from out of town and were staying at the Marriot Residence Hotel in Vaughan, ON.

They had twin infants and a 4 year old boy. What a wonderful family! The babies went down to sleep and the little guy played and had dinner before settling in for a sleep. A few hours later he awoke crying, saying his ear was hurting. I quickly assessed that he may have an ear infection. I called mom and dad, they came back to the hotel and had said he was just getting over a cold and the plane ride probably affected his ear. Here is the e-mail I received after:

“Hi Carol

It was great meeting you as well. Jaylon absolutely loved you. He wears his crown very proudly. We gave him some medicine for the ear ache and it was much better. I will definitely recommend you to our friends and family in Toronto. “

Home Care

On that same night another staff was at a guests home caring for their boy. They contacted me a couple days prior to the wedding and needed last minute care. Thankfully, I was able to arrange care for them and here is the e-mail I received after:

I wanted to send an email of gratitude to you and Sandy. We were all so pleased with how everything worked out. My family just raved about Sandy and how wonderful she was and how she handled everything. Please thank her for me.

Wedding at George Restaurant-Downtown

My team pulled together in my absence to do an amazing job for Rebecca on August 28th, 2011.
Just the day before, I injured my foot and was on crutches! But, I knew my crew would shine without me and they did.
Here is the e-mail I received after the wedding for Rebecca's mom,

Hello Carol,

Sorry to hear about your accident with your foot and that we did not get the opportunity to meet.

As with weddings - after I met your staff it was a blur of activity and never had the opportunity to chat with them again or say goodbye.

From what I understand it went very well and parents were very impressed.

I think in hindsight we probably would have kept you on for another hour - but when the children joined the reception and they were all so well behaved!

So they must have had a fun and relaxing time with your staff. They were wearing their crowns etc.

I hope it went well for your staff - any concerns on your end?

When the opportunity arises again I would certainly recommend your services to others.

It was a beautiful day to get married. We started our day at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Vaughan. The venue has a nice natural setting for ceremonies and ample space for us to set up.
The children enjoyed getting to know us and had fun making their treasure boxes and fortune tellers.

In the evening we arrived at the Embassy Grand Convention Centre in Brampton. As the children arrived they were happy to see us and us, them. We helped serve the children pizza and wings ordered by the couple. Later, we played many games, did numerous arts and crafts activities, beading and had many toys for our toddlers.

As the little ones started to get tired we put them to sleep in their strollers. The happy parents enjoyed the rest of the evenings festivities.

Thank you to Sapna Weddings who suggested our service to Archna and Neeraj for their wedding. The feedback from the parents has been outstanding. We were happy to have helped with their littlest guests!

We will be a featured Vendor on In-Law Wedding Wars, a show on the Slice network, channel 41(Rogers) Tuesday's @ 9pm. If you miss it, there are other showing times on Wednesday 11am and 4pm and Saturday 1pm, 6pm and 10pm.

I believe next week is the week as we were the 1st episode to be filmed and this one is labelled -1.

Booking for 2011?

We here at My Busy Bees have been busy accepting inquiries for weddings and events in 2011.

Booking Tips:

* We suggest reserving your date 6 months in advance in order for us to make sure we have teachers available for your event.

* When collecting the # of children attending your wedding, please make note of their names and ages as this is the information we will need to calculate your final balance and make an attendance sheet for your event.( This will save you from going back over all of your RSVP's at a later date)

* Make note of any children with severe allergies, asthma, or special needs.

* Our rates are based hourly on the # of children attending the event and their ages.

* We do not need the final #’s to reserve your date. In order to do so we require a signed contract stating that you will abide by the rates for your event and a small non-refundable deposit.

* When you do receive back your RSVP’s we will calculate the balance owing.

My Busy Bees can provide a wide range of care including individual childcare, supervision only -when there has been other entertainment arranged, and of course our "daycare on wheels" which includes arts and craft activities, games and toys and full supervision by Early Childhood staff.

EMD Corporate Holiday Party- December 12th, 2010

We were called to help out Eclectic Events International by EMD for their Corporate Holiday Party.
It was loads of fun.

They had arranged for many special activities for the children to take part in. We pitched right in and helped out with the crafts and supervising the children in all the areas ensuring their safety from one area to the next.

Last minute event through Bridal Solutions.

It was a last minute childcare booking, not to worry, we had it covered.

Bridal Solutions called us for one of their bridal couples needing childcare at The Royal York Hotel.

We quickly got organized and received the information we needed from Bridal Solutions. The it was off to venue on October 9th, 2010 to set up.

We had a great space in The Salon just off the Ballroom. The children were excited to see us and wasted no time getting busy with the activities. Mom's and Dad's were impressed that the bridal couple had thought of this service for the children and for them as well.

We would like to thank Bridal Solutions for using My Busy Bees as their special event childcare service and hope to work with them again.

Evening of September 25th, 2010

My Busy Bees provided childcare to a couple attending a wedding at The Sheraton Parkway in Richmond Hill.

The reception was held at the hotel and the couple had a room there as well.

We came prepared for the children bringing age appropriate toys.

The parents felt comfortable and the children as well. We did the bedtime routines and the children fell asleep, at which point one of the staff went down to the reception to let Mom and Dad know they had gone to sleep for the night.

We arrived at Timothy Eaton to find a fantastic area for childcare.

The children played with activities and toys while the wedding ceremony took place. The parents loved that their children were enjoying themselves in a child-friendly space while they enjoyed the ceremony.

Elena and Ali's wedding was relaxed and fun. The couple and guests were full of energy and danced the night away.

In the meantime, My Busy Bees had a childcare area set up to not only entertain the children, but to also supervise dinner as well. The venue Riviera Parque had a great area for us and were very helpful.

Ashita and Ajay's wedding at The Liberty Grand

This was beautiful cultural wedding. We set up in an area out of the way and entertained the children while the cocktail hour was happening. The children had the opportunity to do crafts and play with other activites. Moms and Dads were not too far away and the children had a great time.

This couples wedding was at the Drake Hotel on August 14th, 2010. This venue is very unique and the icing on the cake is it has hotel rooms upstairs for guests if needed.

At this wedding we cared for 8 children including the brides and groom toddler and another guests infant. My Busy Bees brought activities and toys for the older children to play with in one of the larger rooms and two other teachers cared for the little ones in separate rooms , so the children could fall asleep.

All went well and we will be back at The Drake in October!

Lisa and Andrew's reception was held at the Royal Pavillion on July 31st,2010. We arrived just prior to dinner. The children came to us in a curtained off area in the dining hall. This worked very well.

One downside was that our electric cars kept escaping into the dining hall! LOL! until we were able to block them and keep them in our area.

Our program went from 6pm untuil 12am. In the first half we entertained the younger children, which had a blast, so much so, some had a hard time leaving us to have dinner.

As the night moved on and the dancing started we had many little dancers on the dance floor. Some of my staff supervised them and the others stayed in our area.

It was the invasion of the Teenagers next! We had a great time having a Connect Four competition, it was a challenge.

In the end, the little guests departed and we were able to put the brides and grooms youngest children to sleep in their stroller making it an easy exit for Mom and Dad!

Back at The Liberty Grand for Tanya's wedding on July 17th, 2010

A few weeks back we were happy to entertain some of Tanya's younger guests at her Bridal Shower.
We met the other children this evening, introducing ourselves to them and their parents just prior to dinner.
20 children in all!

After dinner, we had a great space on the second level to set up the program.

The children, loved to decorate the new canvas fridge magnets and the beading area was a big hit! Many of the children( including some boys) made keepsakes and gifts for friends and family.

We wish the happy couple all the best!

Wedding at Atlantis Pavillion on June 27th,2010

It was a stormy evening on June 27th, 2010.
We arrived just before the storm. We set up in the Skyline Room in the Atlantis Pavillion. We had ample space and was able to entertain the 26 children attending.

The children loved to be able to watch the storm clouds pass overhead. We did many crafts and they enjoyed all of the games and toys we brought.

The evening was a big success! Congratulations to the happy couple!

Wedding at The York Reception Centre/ Don Valley Hotel and Suites

We would like to say Congratulations to the new" Cooper" family!

This event was unique for us. We arrived to supervise the 3 youngest children throughout dinner.

But, when we arrived and set-up, the boys were having such a good playing with us, the bride decided to let them stay and play instead of making the grand entrance and upsetting them by taking them away from their activities.

So, later when dinner was being served, we entertained them in the dining room. We helped the smallest, which happened to be the brides little guy, eat his dinner, and watched over the others.

After, we returned to our playroom and continued with our activities until it was time for the shuttle to take us to the suite at The Don Valley Hotel and Suites.

The suite was amazing! The children, the three little boys and a young girl, relaxed and started to wind down for the night. Eventually, we changed them into their PJ's and they all fell asleep cuddled up on the couch and big comfy chairs....so cute!

Grandma, came later and transferred them to her suite for the night so the bride and groom could continue their celebration with family and friends in their suite.

Wedding at Dundas Golf and Country Club

We had the pleasure of providing entertainment for a wedding at The Dundas Golf and Country Club. A beautiful venue in a beautiful setting!

Many of the children were either in the wedding party or children of adults in the wedding party.

Our service was essential, especially during the speeches, where the wedding party took turns congratulating the happy couple.

This went smoothly, as we found out later, because the children were having a party of their own, safe and sound!

The parents, bride and groom thanked us. The children loved the arts and crafts and musical chairs to end the program, leaving our program with a fun loot bag and their treasured crafts!

Bridal Shower at The Boulavard Club

Yes, that's right! We do bridal showers too!

It was our pleasure to provide our service at The Boulavard Club for Tanya's shower.

Everything went smoothly and the best part is we are also providing our service for her wedding.
So, many of the children we met that day we will see at the wedding. This makes it easy to plan activities they will really enjoy and we already have a relationship with them as well as their moms!

Wedding at Grand Baccus in Scarborough

We had a busy preschooler to take care of at this event. He was a great dancer and loved the car track!
Later in the evening he got very tired and Margaret was able to settle him down, and he fell asleep. We thought he had a stroller to sleep in but he didn't have one that reclined. In the future, we have decided to always bring a play yard to an event with smaller children, just to be on the safe side.

Kasia and A.J got married on May1st, 2010. They have a 9 month old baby and Kasia was very nervous about leaving her little man as she hadn't done this before. We knew she really needed us to put her mind at ease so she could enjoy her wedding. We made sure little A. was happy, fed changed and updated Kasia and A.J throughout the evening on how he was doing. Here is what Kasia sent to us after.

I just wanted to say thank you soooooo much for the wonderful job you and Margaret did at our wedding. The kids absolutely loved you and I wouldn't have had the dream wedding I had hoped for without you. I couldn't believe how many people have complimented you when watching you guys with the kids. It was our pleasure to care for her son and we are very happy for her and A.J.

* As well at this wedding Kasia's sister needed a caregiver for her daughter. Little M. is 19 months old and a little sweetheart. I had fun running around with her and keeping her busy. We bonded so quickly that when mom came to say "hi" she kept playing! Mom was so surprised and pleased that her daughter was in good hands!

Event at The Terrace on April 24th, 2010

Rose's sister was getting married and she and her extended family were all part of the wedding. She thought"what to to with the children?" She contacted me and her problem was solved.

We cared for and entertained 6 children ages 2.5yrs of age to 6.5 yrs of age. The kids had so much fun they wanted us to stay and even asked if we would be back for next time!

Mommies and Daddies loved our program and even said that if we ever needed references they are their for us. As well, they said that they would refer us to everyone!

Fiona's Wedding at The Manor

Congratulations to the happy couple. We had a busy day on April 24th and double booked. Fiona's children required a teacher to entertain and care for her two children on her wedding day. I knew Margaret was the perfect teacher for her.

The children had a great time with her and gave Fiona the sercurity she needed for her special day. She knew that her children were safe and having fun.

Congratulations to Madhusree and Saaj

Madhusree and Saaj had their reception at the Red Rose Convention Centre on March 6th, 2010. This is an elegant venue with ample space for childcare.

We entertained our little guests while the adult program was taking place. We had some small ones who had never be in childcare or had cargivers other than family members. To their surprise and relief they did very well and enjoyed their stay with us. The parents had been planning for their sons childcare since mom is going back to work and this was a great insight for them. We were glad to help
.
The other children enjoyed all the crafts and the especially liked the dino car track.

We hope to be back at this venue again. It was great!

Wedding at Liberty Grand February 13th, 2010

It was a snowy evening at Liberty Grand. With the snow gently falling the venue was magical. We arrived and introduced ourselves to the parents and children attending. We let them know where we were and gave them the run down of the evening's plan.

We then went to see the bride and groom to say congratulations and introduce the rest of the team.

With a quick set up we started our evening with a craft activity and then had the children make their own personalized name tag for their loot bags.( which included a special Valentine's treat bag from My Busy Bees). Before long dinner was served. After dinner we set up stage two of the night with beading and designing race cars.

If the children weren't interested in crafts we always bring a variety of floor toys and games to keep them busy.

The night went very smoothly and at the end of the program the children told their parents" they didn't want to leave!" Which translates in to a big success for My Busy Bees.

We would like to thank Liberty Grand for all their help and a special thank you to the onsite coordinator Stasia Marunchak who was always on hand and helpful.

At the Berkeley Church on January 16th, 2010

Congratulations to the happy couple! We had a great evening at the Berkeley Church. This location is full of historical charm. The bride was beautiful and the groom handsome.

Our 7 little guests had a blast! We kept them hopping with about 5 craft activities, and various age appropriate activities.

Here is the feedback from the bride:

"From my perspective, the kids had a great time. I spoke to a few of the parents and all the kids seemed to love it. I loved the arts and crafts ideas (I didn't see the finished products, but that's ok) and the fact that there were age appropriate toys and games for those that like lots of different things to do or aren't into the craft stuff. Furthermore, other people noticed how well the kids were taken care of. Personally, I was so relieved that the ceremony and speeches could be heard, and that the kids could participate in the dancing (so cute!).
If I hear any more feedback, I will certainly send it your way. I am also happy to be a reference for any potential customers! I think one of the mom's wanted to know all about your business, so I'll let her know!

It was my pleasure to hear that Michelle and Chris are expecting their first baby. This fantastic couple hired My Busy Bees for their wedding on August 15th, 2008.

My Busy Bees would like to wish them all the best.

Also, since her wedding Michelle has set up her own business called Simply Done Events. She is now a Registered Event Planner. After, seeing her wedding, her organizational skills and calmness. I have to say I was very impressed. So, if your planning a wedding and need a planner, Michelle could be the planner for you.

Thank you to all the couples who used My Busy Bees for their events:

• Congratulations to Anisha and John who were married at Eaton Hall on August 1st and 2nd.
They had a cultural wedding the first day and traditional Canadian wedding on the next. We provided care for both days. We had our hands full with a group of toddlers (8) and one infant,but, with my team of childcare experts we put our many years of experience to work and the children had a great time. Eaton Hall has a great set-up for childcare with rooms on the lower level with washrooms close by. The parents loved our service and Anita and John were able to provide their guests a carefree evening.

• With little time to regroup I received a last minute phone call from a couple from the U.S.A. They were attending a wedding here on August 8th at Sunnybrook Estates. Our service for them started on the Thursday evening as they were attending the theatre. Their 7 month old son was a real charmer and bonded very quickly. By the Saturday, although he was a little under the weather he played with toys they had and the bag of surprises that was bought along as well. Mom and Dad commented that they would be back next summer and hoped that My Busy Bees would be available to care for their son again. They had never left him with anyone before and were very pleased with our service.

• On August 15th, 2009, the following weekend Paula and Nacho celebrated their wedding day at Donalda Golf and Country Club .
We had an interesting group of children, most of the children were from Spain. I have a couple of Spanish speaking teachers, which were happy to translate/communicate to the parents and children who didn’t speak English.

The children’s ages ranged from a 2 month old who dropped in for a little while, so mom could have a break to 11 yr olds ( 16 all together).The kids had fun making treasure/jewelry boxes, playing with numerous toys we brought along as well as having a Connect Four play off!

• With a few weeks off we restocked our supplies and geared up for Maria and Miguel’s wedding at the Waterside Inn in Port Credit.
The venue was well set up with a room right next door to the Dining Hall. Lots of little ones. One mom said “I’ve never left her alone before, I have always been afraid, thank you for making me feel safe and secure leaving her in your care. You are wonderful!” Experiences like this one are what make our job at My Busy Bees so special.

• As summer winds down My Busy Bees planned for Pamela and Jason’s wedding at the Palais Royale.
It was a spectacular wedding and our program was a hit. One highlight of the evening was when a toddler was about to topple the cake a staff swooped in and “saved the cake”.

Just doing our job, of making sure the children are entertained and supervised at all times. The bride and groom were so pleased and commented that the parents were raving about our service.

One of the guests attending without her child said she would feel totally comfortable leaving her child in our care after seeing how thoroughly we know where the children are at all times.

First off, I just want to say hello to everyone and welcome you to our blog.

My Busy Bees has become my passion. After working in the childcare centres for
many years, getting married and starting my own family, life began to evolve
in a new direction. I was entering the unknown. Scheduling and working around family life and demands.....no easy task!

It's amazing when life hands you an idea and then it's up to you to make it work. That is exactly how "My Busy Bees",your wedding childcare professional service was created.

During the end of my second high risk pregnancy I needed to attend one of my best friends weddings. Not only was my son a Ring Bearer but my husband Eslet was the Photographer. So, needless to say I wasn't able to run after my two year old son all day and be able to stay out of the hospital! I turned to my colleague and good friend Margaret ( I call her my guardian angel )
to help. I hired her to take care of my son's needs for the whole day.

Buzz, Buzz everyone said they should have done the same......ah hah! ...the moment it all happened.

So, here we are today. I have been working hard to fine tune the business and Margaret has joined me to be my second in command. I could not ask for a better person to trust and work with.
